Southern heat and humidity mean summer has arrived! Do you have plans for summertime? I’ve put together a summer bucket list full of ways to take advantage of the season.

With Memorial Day last weekend, that means it’s officially summer right?? I know the parents of school-aged kiddos may have a different take on that, but the pools are open and people are wearing white pants, so it’s officially summertime!
The biggest surprise being back in North Carolina is the humidity. I grew up with it, so you’d think I wouldn’t forget so quickly! But it hit early this year, and I’m constantly sweaty even though the thermostat says it’s only 70°F! But I’ll take it to be back in the land of gorgeous flowers and greenery bursting out everywhere you look.
Before we get on with summer, let’s look back at the spring bucket list for a sec. How’d that go for you?
Overall, mine went pretty well. Spring was dominated by moving and sending Logan off for deployment, so anything else I accomplished over the past few months seems like a bonus.
Travel-wise, I did head to Puerto Vallarta for a week and took a day trip to Oklahoma City. Both were fantastic respites from the chaos of packing!
Anyway, onto the summer’s bucket list!
Summer Bucket List
- Go to the beach
- Visit a museum
- Make summer stir fry, blackberry pie bars, and homemade ice cream
- Try out calligraphy
- Send care packages to Logan
- Take a day trip somewhere
- Read: Code Girls and Lonely Planet’s Travel Writing
- Watch fireworks on the 4th of July
- Socialize Wedge
- Organize my parents’ photos
- Go to a farmer’s market
I’m not listing specific trips, but I’m also hoping to travel a lot this summer! Mostly aiming for short road trips within 8 hours of North Carolina. Any suggestions of where to go???
Another unlisted goal for the summer is to bring some changes to my blog and shop! I’ve sold stationery and party goods for the past year and plan to keep it up, but there are some exciting new projects in the works that I’ll be sharing soon!
