Hey, I’m Emma! I’m the traveler, amateur Italian, and aspiring foodie behind Where’s Emma Now. Whether it’s a day trip to the next town over or a once-in-a-lifetime month in Europe, I’m always dreaming up the next trip!
I created Where’s Emma Now to inspire busy people like you to travel, eat & live the way you want, and to give you tools actually to do it.
Travel should be life-changing and eye-opening, times of learning and trying and connecting. Eating should be the same: an experience rather than a mere necessity, a tangible way to care for yourself and others and soak in more of what this world has to offer.
I want to help you travel more, cook better food, and experience as much of life as you possibly can without breaking the bank or quitting your day job!
Who I am
Here’s what you should know about me: I’m travel-obsessed and I’ve never met a dessert I didn’t want. I’m a total adrenaline junkie with a passion for trying new things. No fashion advice here; I constantly get looks from my well-dressed Italian neighbors in spite of my best efforts.
I’m currently living the expat life as a military spouse in Italy with my husband! I’m learning the language, local customs, embracing la dolce vita, and trying to see as much of Italy and Europe as I possibly can.
You can sum me up like this: if I’m not traveling, I’m probably cooking!
What’s with the name Teaspoon of Nose?
Longtime followers may remember this space used to be called Teaspoon of Nose! Weird name, but it’s a cute childhood story.
Like most toddlers, I played a lot with random kitchen stuff: bowls, measuring cups, anything in the bottom cabinets. My favorite was the measuring spoons, which my dad would hang on my nose. My parents love to tell me that I had a “teaspoon of nose” because that’s the size that fit!

I also share behind-the-scenes bits of expat life, travel tips, and recipe round-ups with my email list! You’ll also get my top five free travel apps I use all the time by signing up below!
Hi Emma!
I was just browsing aimlessly this morning and found your Pinterest presence. Travel in Italy caught my eye…still scrolling… “Day trips from Altus”?? What? There’s an Altus in Italy? No, you mean Altus, OK!
My husband and our 2 littles were stationed there from 1980-1983. Yes, everything was a day trip from there- even the dentist in Lawton. I’m sure it has grown and changed a bit since then. We enjoyed our stay there; the people were so friendly and nice.
We spent most of our military days in Dover, DE, with the C5 life. We are retired now, still in Dover, but looking to move to RI where our daughter and 2 of the grands live.
I just wanted to say hi, and hope you are well!
