In college, I loved this burger place. The burgers were amazing, but their real strength is their fries. I think their sweet potato fries are the best I’ve ever tasted. But their secret weapon? Dips.
They have something like ten different sauces, ranging from honey mustard to the ever-mysterious dragon sauce. Every single one was delicious, and it made me fall in love with branching beyond ketchup for dipping my fries!
When we started deep-frying our own fries at home, it was obvious that some fun homemade fry dips needed to go along with them!
These are my favorite homemade fry dips so far. They’re each simple to make with condiments and spices you probably already have on hand, making them simple to whip up without planning ahead!
Tools you’ll need: measuring beakers.
Sriracha Mayonnaise
First up: sriracha mayo. Nothing complicated. I almost didn’t include it because it’s hardly a recipe – you already know the ingredients. This is my ratio, but essentially just keep adding sriracha by the quarter teaspoon until you’re happy with the heat.
Sriracha Mayo
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
- ½-¾ tsp Sriracha
Instructions
- Combine the mayo and ½ tsp Sriracha. Taste and add more Sriracha as needed.
Honey Mustard
Honey mustard is also easy. Here, I’ve used both brown mustard and Dijon mustard. I like the tang of Dijon and the spice of brown against the sweetness, but if you don’t keep both on hand, feel free to just use one or the other. You can up the honey to almost a 1:1 ratio if you that hits what you want, but again, balance.
Honey Mustard
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 Tbsp spicy brown mustard
- 1 Tbsp honey
Instructions
- Mix everything together!
Copycat Chick-fil-A Sauce
At it’s heart, Chick-fil-A sauce is honey mustard mixed with barbecue sauce. Here, I’ve souped it up a bit – add some smokiness with the chili and paprika and some acid with lemon – but at its heart, it’s a copycat Chick-fil-A sauce.
Note that this recipe makes significantly more than the other two – about 1/2 cup of sauce. In order to get the proportions right, I make it in a bigger batch.
Chickfila Sauce
Ingredients
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp BBQ sauce
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 2 ½ tsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp paprika
Instructions
- Combine everything and stir well!
