One of my bigger determining factors for if I’m going to make a recipe is if the ingredients are already in my house. So when I came across this recipe for Nutella cookies that only has four ingredients, I knew it would come in handy. Sure enough, I busted this baby out to make for my students with the end of year craziness. It was easy enough that I went from start to finish in about 30 minutes, including cleanup!
First, mix the egg and sugar.
Sifting flour. Always important, but especially in this recipe.
The star ingredient!
Stir thoroughly. I don’t recommend doing it by hand, it was tough.
Make the dough into small balls with a mini-scoop or by hand.
Using the bottom of a glass, press down the dough so it’s flat – these won’t really rise in the oven.
Check out those cookies! They were so good I didn’t manage to get a picture before my husband got into them.
I updated the recipe from one originally found here.
Nutella Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup nutella
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 or 2 eggs*
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Combine eggs, sugar, and Nutella. Then add flour. An electric mixer is way easier than hand mixing in this case.
- Make 1″ balls with a scoop or by hand. Once they’re laid out, use a flat-bottomed glass to press down the balls into cookie shape.
- Cook for 7-8 minutes, until edges look crispy. I prefer the cookies on the crispy end, so I did them more like 8 1/2 minutes.
* Probably, you only need one. When struggling to stir by hand, I added a second one for some more stickiness to bring the ingredients together. It worked – possibly, the cookies were a bit chewier than they would’ve been otherwise without the second egg.
The verdict: good. Students liked them and my husband loved them – I didn’t even get to finish letting them cool before he’d gotten into them!
Enjoy!
