Nestled in the heart of the Trentino Dolomites, San Martino di Castrozza has plenty to offer! Here are the San Martino restaurants you don’t want to miss while you’re there.

San Martino di Castrozza makes a great destination within the Trentino Dolomites because it hits that sweet spot of picturesque small town with plenty of options for hiking, skiing, and exploring. There are also a ton of restaurants in town!
I mentioned this once about San Martino di Castrozza already, but it applies most when looking at restaurants: we visited at a weird time. The town had shut down in between tourist seasons, and as such, we didn’t get to try many of the restaurants in town. Which is a shame, because I specifically picked San Martino for its variety of restaurants!
That being said, it didn’t stop us from eating great food! Here are my favorite spots we did check out.
San Martino Restaurants
Malga Civertaghe dal 1905
Have I shared about malgas (really malghe = plural Italian) before? A malga is a hillside/mountainside dairy farm that has some kind of restaurant. I love that there’s a specific word for this! Languages are so cool.
Anyway, in general, eating at a malga is a great way to get really authentic local food at a really reasonable price. Sometimes they don’t even have a menu – it’s one of those “this is what we’re serving today” situations. We love malghe and will eat at them anytime we can find one.
If you eat one place, eat at Magla Civertaghe dal 1905!! They have an extensive menu of local Trentino fare, which is a delicious blend of Italian and Austrian food dishes. If you’re not sure where to start, order something with polenta. We ordered a massive plate of polenta, sausage, and local cheese and loved every bite! Imagine sitting on a hillside, beer in hand as you soak in the epic mountains surrounding you on three sides. Perfection.
Ristorante da Anita
It would be easy to attribute our love of Ristorante da Anita to the fact that it was the only dinner place open Saturday night. But it was still one of my favorite meals of the trip!
Ristorante da Anita focuses on local dishes made with local ingredients. The dirndl-clad staff serve classic dishes in a simple yet elegant space, making it the perfect place for a romantic dinner. From pumpkin ravioli and canederli to steak and finally sachertorte, everything was delicious!!
Rifugio Rosetta
I’ve already shared that you should take the Rosetta funivia (ski lift) up to the top of the mountain for crazy views and playing in the snow! When you do, skip the restaurants at the ski lift stops and make your way to Rifugio Rosetta.
In addition to being a B&B, they offer lunch and dinner to hikers and skiers. It’s worth heading up here for the meal alone! We had an amazing pasta with venison and split a bowl of minestrone – perfect for warming up after tromping through knee-high drifts.
Osteria Pan e Vin
Down the mountain is a larger town that had none of the ghost-town effects we saw in San Martino. Fiera di Primiero is a popular alpine destination, so we headed down to Osteria Pan e Vin for dinner one night!
Their menu puts creative spins on classics – I had a pasta dish with seafood – a surprise option in the Dolomites, but the chef recommended it and no regrets. It’s definitely the type of place where you should ask for the night’s specials and get the staff’s opinions on their favorite dishes! They also have a great wine selection, perfect for a long Italian dinner.
You can also see my full list of restaurants I want to try in the area right here. Saving it for next time!
Finding great places to eat in San Martino di Castrozza isn’t hard, but these spots are a few of my favorites!
