Hard to believe we’ve been doing these seasonal bucket lists for a year now! You can find last year’s here.
I don’t know about you, but I’m confused about where the summer actually went. Just a minute ago we were gearing up for going to the beach, and
I did manage to cram the summer full of bucket list fun. I spent a week at the beach with 25 family members and 3 dogs in one house, explored an art museum, and watched fireworks over Smith Mountain Lake. I sent Logan a birthday care package – 30 things for his 30th birthday! – and helped some friends pack their house to move.
The most exciting piece of the fall is that Logan is coming home from deployment! Most of the fall is framed around that.
One thing that military life is teaching me – and let’s be honest, it’s true for most of life, the military just makes it drastic – that it’s important to embrace what’s right in front of me. I’ve had to work hard during this deployment to do that. I’ve talked more about it here, but it’s been hard some days to just function normally, let alone take advantage of the freedom I have while Logan’s deployed. But I don’t want to put life on hold to wait for the next thing – him getting home, our next assignment, the next year, whatever that may be. Do that for too long, and your life passes you by.
So I’m embracing fall on the east coast while I’m here, and I’ll embrace fall with Logan in Oklahoma once he’s stateside!
Fall Bucket List
- Move back to Oklahoma & welcome Logan home!

- Get fall family photos done
- Take a walk (or a weekend trip!) somewhere with great fall foliage
- Go to the state fair
- Carve a pumpkin
- Use our fire pit
- Learn to make a great hot drink at home
- Host a Friendsgiving
- Read Calypso, The Gifts of Imperfection, King’s Cross, and The Paper Magician
- Explore a corn maze
- Use my camera at least twice a week
- Go hiking
- Finish Rosetta Stone Spanish
I’ve got some travel planned, including a long weekend in NYC with my mom and potentials to Nashville, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Huntsville, Alabama.

For sure, you’ve got some fun times ahead this fall. I am amazed at how life zips by as well and am inspired by your planning. I know that your reunion with Logan will be divine and your relocation, smooth. Xo
Thanks Evelyn! I’m so excited to see him, but I also don’t want to sit around waiting for him to get back, so the bucket list helps with that!
