In August, Logan and I had the chance to sneak away for vacation. After a chaotic summer we knew we needed something that would let us rest and have fun without a huge amount of forward planning. Last year we’d done a cruise with Carnival — gotten an incredible deal to boot — so that seemed like an obvious repeat vacation (but to new locations, of course!).

Cruises seem to hit our sweet spot in terms of travelling during summers of law school. So when we starting dreaming about getting some time away after Logan’s 2L year [and working around a summer of Field Training, plus me changing jobs], something easy to book and with clear costs had some big advantages for us. Plus, it was a great thing to look forward to without very many logistics or bookings to research and coordinate.
Cruising = clearly a win for us in this phase of life.
This year, we booked about 7 weeks in advance, and didn’t get quite as good a deal as last year, but we did manage to book a 7 night cruise for less than $100 per person per night. Which – if you think about it – covers housing, food, entertainment, and unlimited sunshine and lawn chairs. Seemed like a good deal to us!
But on to the important stuff: photos!
We did a 7 night Eastern Caribbean trip, which took us to several sweet locations. We spent some time in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Turks & Caicos, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We absolutely loved exploring new places!
Our day in Grand Turk (Turks & Caicos) was spent relaxing by the gorgeous turquoise water. Our biggest decision was what fruity concoction made it into our drink! It was heavenly to just sit by the ocean alternating between reading, snoozing, and swimming for a few hours.
[…] I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone heading to St. Thomas and the U.S. Virgin Islands! For the rest of our cruise, you can see our adventures in San Juan, Nassau, and shots from the boat! […]

Looks lovely! My Fiance and I are doing a cruise for our wedding/honeymoon soon. Looking forward to those beaches!
Thanks Emily! Yeah, I think cruising would be an absolutely amazing honeymoon. Such a good mix of relaxing and luxurious! I hope it’s wonderful, and congrats on your engagement!!!
