I’ve already shared my tips for what to do in Ostuni for a day or weekend, so today we’re focused on eating well in Ostuni!
Pugliese food is a treat, and one of the lesser-known types of regional Italian food. Ostuni leaves you spoiled for choice to eat both traditional and modern takes on the classic dishes of the area.
The Best Restaurants in Ostuni
Osteria del Tempo Perso
If you make one reservation, reserve at Osteria del Tempo Perso! Their menu is packed with modern takes on classic dishes, and every single bite is amazing! I had the cappelloni with yellow tomatoes and burrata and it was fantastic. Their house wine has the most beautiful custom label – and it was delicious too, of course.
Ristorante La Vecchia Terrazza
Ristorante la Vecchia Terrazza was my favorite meal in Ostuni! It’s a great dinner option. It sits lower on the hill, so if you can score a table by the terrace’s edge, you get a beautiful view back up the top. They offer a beautiful mixed antipasto – we did the land version and practically licked the plate.
Osteria Piazzetta Cattedrale
I’m always a sucker for a pre-fixe meal that’s reasonably priced. Even more so at a Michelin-rated restaurant! Osteria Piazzetta Cattedrale hits this exactly, so it’s worth checking out. The husband and wife team do a fantastic job of putting together seasonal local ingredients in elegant yet traditional plates.
Il Gatto Rosso
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly meal, head to Il Gatto Rosso. It’s the kind of place that fills up with locals ordering their usuals and chatting to their friends at the next table, with an almost Italian-style sports bar feel. They have all the classics as well as pizza, but I can vouch for the orrichette con cime di rapa!
The Best Ostuni Bars
Borgo Antico Bistrot
Borgo Antico Bistrot has gorgeous sunset views, so try to go in the evening to enjoy the sun setting over the water! It’s best for an aperitivo, not a full meal. They don’t take reservations, so best to get there on the early side.
Gabo
Gabo is both a bar and restaurant, but I recommend it as a bar. It was so picturesque to sit among the trees and enjoy a coffee or cocktail! Highly recommend this spot if you need a take a break. I can’t speak to the food, but you’re so spoiled for choice in Ostuni I vote you treat it as an aperitivo and continue on.
Casbah Risto Cafe
Casbah Risto Cafe is also super picturesque. While the drinks aren’t cheap, they’re not bad for the cute location. It’s a great spot for people watching or watching the sunset, but after dark the city lights and white buildings create great ambiance for a nightcap. They also offer a full bar even at aperitivo hour – something you don’t always find at the average Italian bar!
Cremeria Alla Scala
No Italian weekend is complete without gelato! Head to Cremeria alla Scala for the best gelateria in Ostuni. It’s perfectly creamy, comes in huge servings, and has great flavor options. They also have vegan options and granita if you’re looking to mix it up.
