We got some of the big news this month: where we’re moving this year!

Military life means we move every few years, and we knew this summer we’d be relocating. After months and months of waiting for news, we found out where we’re headed!

This summer, we’re moving to…

Aviano, Italy!

Needless to say, we’re just a little excited.

Aviano is a small, picturesque town about an hour north of Venice and two hours east of Milan. It sits right at the foot of the Dolomites and looks like a jumping off point for skiing. It’s also only half an hour from the area of Italy known as Strada del Prosecco, or Prosecco Road. Yes, please.

We’re over the moon, of course. I’ve wanted to live abroad since I was a teenager, and actually took Italian in college! And of everywhere we’ve been, Logan’s favorite country has been Italy. Plus, Aviano has a reputation as the best military base assignment in the world.

I actually wasn’t with Logan when he found out. So he sent me the above photo as a teaser, then told me to call him when I was free. Needless to say, I FREAKED out when I saw the picture and did a lot of shrieking in public.

There are still tons of logistics to work out: we don’t know when we’re moving, where we’ll live, or what life will look like. We do know that Wedge can come with us, so he’ll officially become the most well-traveled dog I know. I promise I’ll share more as we know, but right now, we’re just in the preliminary stages of research and planning. Already working on improving my rusty Italian and preparing to Marie Kondo the entire house.
