Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re having a wonderful celebration with family and loved ones. We’re having a low-key celebration this year. Thanksgiving was pretty much the first thing we did when we moved here to Altus, Oklahoma last year. It’s crazy to think we’ve been here for a year!!
While the rest of the Internet has fully embraced fall, southwest Oklahoma can’t seem to make up its mind. Some days don’t get above 50°F and others we’re still seeing high 80’s. So when we found ourselves with a warm day, we headed straight for the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and checked out Kite trail!
Happy fall!! I hope everyone is enjoying cooler temps, pumpkin carving, and whatever else you do to live it up in autumn. We only just got cooler weather in past week, but I am so glad it finally arrived. How’s your fall bucket list going?
Today is our five year anniversary! We’ve been doing this marriage thing for half a decade!
One of the great advantages of moving west is a change of hiking scenery! My east coast self equates hikes with forests, rivers and mountain views. Here in Oklahoma it’s more cacti and rocks, but we’ve still managed to find some mountain views at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge Elk Mountain trail.
Earlier this month Altus hosted Air Power Over Altus, our base’s air show! Held every three years, it’s probably the biggest event Altus AFB throws. The Altus air show is part festival, part show of skill, part recruitment effort, and part community outreach.
Happy September!! Labor Day’s arrival this weekend always signals one thing: fall is just around the corner! Whether you think autumn represents football, pumpkin spice lattes, back to school, or cozy sweaters, everyone has something they love about fall. I’m looking forward to not sweating every time I set foot outside.
